Bennick knew what he’d done to secure victory for the first moto, now it was just time to wash, rinse, and repeat. Allen, was sniffing his trail, like a dog on his scent, to begin the first few laps of the second moto. Bennick, launching the single before the finish line with hard charging authority wanted this win so bad, he could taste the drips of champagne. Colin Allen was holding down the second spot, with pressure from Bran- dond Shaw and James Clough. Allen, the moti- vated competitor that he is, just wasn’t going to give up hope, but Ben- nick was proving to be too much for the Haslet, Texas native. Push-
ing round after round, Bennick’s team had traveled all the way from North Carolina and was cheering rampantly from the sideline, telling him to go, and keep pressing forward. The encour- agement worked, as Bennick would hold for the moto victory, making this division his for the taking. The feeling was surreal, once he crossed the finish line, the tingles and chills overwhelmed his body. He couldn’t put the feeling into words
on the microphone. His name was now in the record books, and as champion, no one could ever take it away. He loved this feeling, and wanted to keep it contin- ued throughout the rest of the week.
