Jimmy had a good start to his day in Santa Clara and jumped right to where he belongs, finishing 5th in the first free practice. Jimmy qualified 6th overall and would go into the night ready to break back into the top 5. In 250 Heat 1, Jimmy got
a decent start and came around the first corner in 8th position. He banged his way up to 4th by lap 2 and set his sights on 3rd place. By the end of the third lap he was able to make the pass and cruise to a 3rd place finish. The beginning of the Main Event was chaos and Jimmy found himself in 9th place after
the first lap. He put his head down and tried to maintain his position but suddenly made a mistake and timing and scoring showed him in 14th place. He had a slow rebound and with 8 laps to go, he had only made up one position and was still sitting back in 13th. With 6 to go, he made the pass into 12th and was beginning to move forward. Unfortunately, he was only able to pick up one more position and ended up with a disappointing 11th on the night. This result is Jimmy’s worst finish of the season so far but he will do the work during the next few weeks and come out swinging for Vegas.
