“Well, I can’t say that for sure but he can tell us what he saw last night,” replied the Peddler. The Chief Inspector sat down on the mansion’s steps, shook his head and told one of the other policemen to bring the dog over.
“This is crazy or at least, the most unusual robbery I’ve ever investigated.”
Well this is getting really interesting. A conversing canine is going to help with the case of the stolen jewels. I flew down to
a tree just off from where they had all gathered to hear what would happen next. The Chief Inspector looked mighty confused.
The dog was obviously very happy to see the Peddler and began prancing and wagging his tail. “Go ahead and ask him what happened,” the Chief Inspector said while shaking his head.
The Peddler asked the dog to tell them what happened in the house after the family and staff left to go to the party. The dog looked very intently at the Peddler and began a series of growls and barks, punctuated with an occasional yelp.
The Peddler nodded and said things like “Yes, I understand,” and “Just like that,” and “I don’t blame you.” Finally, the dog stopped barking and growling and sat down, looking from one to another with a very satisfied look on his face.
