             This course is open to Juniors and Seniors and is designed to help students explore many different career paths in
             the field of mental health.  Students will learn an overview of the mental health field, which includes topics such
             as:  empathy,  ethical  practices,  theories,  disorders,  interventions,  assessment  tools,  advocacy,  and  non-profit
             organizations.  Students will also learn about growing careers within the mental health field, such as: counseling,
             psychology, and psychiatry, including mental health jobs within a variety of settings such as clinical, medical, law
             enforcement, education, and more.  Students will find that careers devoted to mental health usually offer personal
             fulfillment.  Students will also discover that mental health professionals make a meaningful difference in people’s
             lives on a daily basis.  Field trips, guest speakers, and career counseling will help students decide if they are drawn
             to a career that supports the mental health of our population.
