USE OF HAZARDOUS MATERIALS. Tegra may use chemicals
(e.g., cleaning compounds, inks, etc.) in some of its operations
and affected employees must receive appropriate training on
chemical handling, usage and storage. Materials Safety Data
Sheets (MSDS) are readily available for employee review and
are located at every point of use for each chemical. Employees
must follow all labeling requirements.
A list of hazardous materials and an information poster is
located on the bulletin board above the time clock. For
additional information on the usage of chemicals or hazardous
materials on Company property, employees should ask their
supervisor.
WORKPLACE INJURIES. To protect employees from the loss
of income and the medical expenses resulting from a job
injury or illness, Tegra carries workers’ compensation insurance
on all employees. This benefit is paid by Tegra and provides
payment of medical expenses for on-the-job injuries, partial
compensation for time off due to the injury, and death and
dismemberment benefits as a result of the injury. If you have
an on-the-job injury or illness, however minor, you must report
it immediately to your supervisor. Failure to immediately notify
your supervisor of an injury may result in disciplinary action.
All location supervisors have been issued instructions on the
handling of an injury. Since some illnesses, such as cumulative
trauma (carpal tunnel syndrome, etc.), do not occur instantly,
it is important that you report any early signs of such an illness
to your supervisor. A reporting delay can result in claim denial.
Tegra strongly endorses a “return to work” policy. If you
experience an illness or injury, your supervisor will seek to find
a position/duty within the facility that meets the restrictions of
your treating physician.
FIRST AID. Each location has CPR and First Aid qualified
people on each shift and an approved first aid supply
cabinet for treatment of minor injuries. Tegra also provides
an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) at each facility.
Remember that even the smallest cut or splinter is a
potentially serious injury. It must be reported to a supervisor
and may need treatment from a Tegra recommended
physician.
