IMPORTANCE OF ELECTRICITY

Access to electricity significantly improves people’s daily lives,
output and wellbeing. It is also critical for the economic
development of the nation as a whole.

Having electricity enables individuals to create opportunities
that lead to wellbeing and allows them to partake in
activities that drive development. Reliable energy increases
the number of productive work hours by providing residents

with the ability to study, work or engage in leisure activities
                                         after sunset.

It is estimated that there are over 70 million Nigerians living
off-gird without access to regular electricity. Most
energy-impoverished people are in rural settlements such as
farming communities, which often face limited economic
                                         opportunities.

According to a study by the World Bank, rural
electrification has been shown to increase incomes by 38%

per year. Tackling this problem at the village level will
translate into improvements in the economic output, GDP and
                                         productivity of the nation.
