“ Whilst the northern part of Nigeria
West Africa’s population is sometimes referred to as The Solar
Belt, there is enough energy coming
deployments in all parts of the country.
While Nigeria has a national grid for electricity distribution, it only from the sun to power solar electricity “
has an installed capacity of 6,000MW. Even then, actual
generation levels often fall significantly below that capacity due
to a variety of reasons ranging from weather conditions like
rainfall level to physical vandalism of gas pipelines.
The Nigerian population is forecast to grow further to 500 million
by 2050 and the nation has ambitions to become an industrial
powerhouse. All of this will require significantly more energy in
our ecosystem – preferably clean energy.
