OVERVIEW ON NIGERIA




       With a population of about 173 million people,
       Nigeria is the largest country in Africa. It accounts
       for 47% of West Africa’s population and is
       composed of more than 250 ethnic groups. It is
       estimated that 52.5% of the total population
       resides in rural villages while the rest live in urban
       areas. The annual urbanisation rate is 4.66%.

       Nigeria has two well-defined seasons: the rainy
       season (April–October) and dry season
       (November–March). Rainfall is from about 1500mm
       in the south to about 500mm in the north. The

       general temperature is usually high, except in Jos,
       Plateau, the Mambila Plateau and Obudu Plateau
       areas where the temperature is relatively cool all
       year round.
