Twitter – Introduction
Twitter is a 'microblogging' platform which allows users to post short text messages (up to 140
characters in length) and converse with other users via their smartphones or web browsers.
Unlike e-mail or text messaging on mobile phones, these conversations take place in the open.
Twitter Account and Content
IPIC uses the following account: @IPIC_Canada. IPIC’s Twitter account is managed by the
Manager, Communications and Membership Services.
If you follow IPIC’s Twitter account you can expect tweets covering topics including but not
limited to:
General IP news or events,
IPIC news or publications,
Course and event promotion,
Occasional live coverage of events, and
Invitations to provide feedback on specific issues on which IPIC is consulting.
Availability
IPIC updates and monitors its Twitter account during office hours, 8:30am to 4:30pm ET,
Monday to Friday.
Following and Unfollowing
IPIC does not automatically follow organisations or individuals who follow it. Being followed
by IPIC does not imply endorsement of any kind.
IPIC may follow:
Sister organisations (i.e. AIPLA, CIPA, etc.),
Government entities,
Other organisations in the intellectual property sector where there is a clear link in
interests, and
Individual members or the firms and/or organisations where IPIC members work.
IPIC will regularly monitor and review the accounts we are following. IPIC may unfollow
individual or organisations.
