                                           Past, Present and Possibilities
in the Geology and Geological Engineering Department

We are excited about this year’s #idigmines day—Thursday February 4th. This year, we celebrate our past, our present,
and the world of possibilities that exist for our students.

Give to #idigmines Geology and Geological Engineering and help to:
                                                    Enhance field sessions
                                            Support instructional advancements
                                      Provide innovative student research experiences

As geologists and geological engineers, we respect the past, and some things never change, like
our goal to inspire and excite students about the Earth. Alumna Susan Perrell (BS, ‘81) re-
calls her time at Mines. “GGE lectures infected me with enthusiasm and passion for geoscience.
Every lecture… was about piecing together the puzzles of our planet’s history.”

That passion has stood the test of time. Sage Langston-Stewart
(BS, ’20) loves Mines so much, she is back for more, now pursuing a
MS degree! “Being in this department has made such a huge impact
on my life. There’s that saying, “Find a job that you love to do, and
you’ll never be working.” That’s how I feel every day in geology at
Mines. Even though it’s challenging…, I absolutely love every minute
                                                            of it

The department impacts students in myriad positive ways. Adrienne Bryant (BS, ’20) found
her community and her career here. The department … “has made me confident in my work and
has directed me to want to pursue a career in exploration geology for oil and gas. This support-
ive atmosphere made it possible for me to not only survive at Mines, but to thrive. I wouldn’t
want to pursue my MS degree anywhere else!”

And every day, faculty and staff like Professor Steve Sonnenberg provide unparalleled op-
portunities to GE students…in the field, in the lab, in the classroom, and in research. “Geology and Geological Engineering
…graduates have excellent reputations worldwide because they are problem solvers, hit the ground running, and never
       miss a beat.”

Help us continue to provide a world of possibilities for GE students.
Give to #idigmines Geology and Geological Engineering.

Department Head Wendy Bohrson and her geologist husband, Jeff Lee, have made a matching gift. When GE reaches
150 donors, a $1500 bonus is released. Give today and help us reach this goal.
