เส้นทางข้ามคาบสมุทรผ่านประเทศไทย กับเส้นทางคมนาคมและเป็นศูนย์กลางติดต่อปฏิสัมพันธ์กับท้องถิ่นอื่นได้สะดวก
ทั้งทางบกและทางทะเล โดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่ง เส้นทางคมนาคมผ่านแผ่นดินจาก
ฝั่งทะเลด้านหนึ่งไปสู่ฝั่งทะเลอีกด้านหนึ่ง เรียกว่า “เส้นทางข้ามคาบสมุทร”
และเส้นทางที่เป็นเครือข่ายต่อเนื่องผ่านไปยังพื้นที่อื่นๆ ล้วนเป็นปัจจัยส�าคัญ
ต่อการพัฒนาการตั้งถิ่นฐานให้เป็นเมืองใหญ่มีความส�าคัญทั้งสิ้น

ความสัมพันธ์ของเส้นทางคมนาคมกับการตั้งถิ่นฐานในประเทศไทย
ตามที่เห็นได้จากหลักฐานมรดกวัฒนธรรมผ่านภาพจากดาวเทียม นับเป็น
ภูมิปัญญาในอดีตที่สร้างความภูมิใจให้กับคนไทย และเป็นข้อมูลส�าคัญ

ransport Routes, Trade and Culture

Thailand is located in the centre of Southeast Asia,
surrounded by Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam.
Its transportation networks include rivers, canals and roads
connected to neighboring countries and also to more distant
1 countries like China, India and Pakistan. In the south of the country,
lies the Peninsula of Southeast Asia beginning from the Gulf of Thailand,
passing Malaysia to Malay Peninsula, where Singapore is located.
Land transportation such as trains and cars is available.
Sea transportation routes join the South China Sea and the
Andaman Sea. The integration of Southeast Asian countries (ASEAN)
will transform Thailand into a hub for transportation networks

(land, sea and air) linking neighboring countries as well as other
regions of the world.
