2.1 WHAT ARE MODAL VERBS?




                                       Hello students, a modal verb is a type of

                                       verb that is used to indicate modality










                                              Modal verbs are different from  normal verbs
                                              like play, watch and write in a way that these

                                              verbs give additional information about the
                                              function of the main verb that follow them.








                 Some characteristics of modal verbs are as follow:


                1.  They have fixed form in which you cannot add ‘s’, ‘ed’ or ‘ing’…
                2.  They are always followed by an infinitive without “to”.


                3.  They are used to indicate  modality that allow speakers to express
                     certainty, possibility, willingness, obligation and ability
