The year began with great enthusiasm as our
international pupils settled into the rhythm of a
new school year, embracing every opportunity
Millfield Prep has to offer. For some pupils it has
involved extending English language skills in the
classroom to taking on leadership roles in boarding.
The pupils have truly accessed all pillars of school
life. They threw themselves into preparations for
the Beauty and the Beast production and fully
immersed themselves in the wide range of sporting
options. The term was packed with energy, growth, 02
and so much success. 01, 03, 05 EAL Lunch

This momentum continued into the spring, with
pupils celebrating the Lunar New Year by hosting
Year 3 students for a fun and educational morning.
Together they explored Mandarin and took part in
‘Enrichment Wednesday’ with a range of activities,
including the ever-popular Chinese cookery.
Boarding life continued to thrive, with weekend
trips that strengthened friendships and created
lasting memories.
As summer arrived, EAL pupils turned their focus 03
to the Cambridge exams, showing great dedication
and resilience. Some took part in the Senior
School’s Language Carousel event, confidently
presenting in their first languages and showcasing
Millfield Prep brilliantly. A highlight of the term
was the EAL Farewell Lunch, a meaningful event
that gave us time to reflect on the many ways our
EAL pupils enrich school life. It reminded us that
every voice matters, in every language.
We left our mark on the reflection tree, a powerful
symbol of how Millfield Prep is part of each pupil’s
journey, and how each pupil leaves a lasting impact
on our school too.
On World Diversity Day, inspired by Yoko Ono’s 04
Wish Tree, we added our own wishes, each one
unique, but together expressing our
shared humanity.
