potions, cooking in the mud kitchen and making
robots in a robot factory! As always, our learning
in the Pre-School is led by the children through
their inquisitive natures; their interests, thoughts
and questions; every day provides new experiences
and learning. These new experiences have provided
the Tadpoles with visits to the school library, the
surgery and dining hall where a café was created.
The Frogs have had trips out to the theatre, Tesco
and best of all the fish and chip restaurant for a
pirate party; however, the best part of a trip for the
children is the always the ride on a
Millfield minibus! 04
Learning about the natural world has been at the
forefront of our learning this year. Jasper brought
in some tadpoles he’d rescued. The Pre-School
children watched and learnt about the different
stages tadpoles go through before becoming a
frog. For weeks they used magnifying glasses to
observe any changes and were finally rewarded
with froglets – it was very exciting! We have also
enjoyed creating a hide where we could observe 05
the birds that visit our garden. We made feeders to
attract them and posters to keep the crows away!
Forest School has helped cement the children’s We ended the year with a fantastic trip to Noah’s
learning. Bug hunts have been our favourite Ark for the Frogs. The children were lucky to see
activity, catching a variety of mini beasts from lemurs, elephants, rhinos, meerkats, giraffes,
beetles to worms, observing them in bug catchers. zebras, monkeys and bears in the wild. The
We have gone on nature hunts to notice the Tadpoles enjoyed a magical party with a surprise
changes in the seasons. Forest School has also visit from Bluey!
provided the children with the freedom to drag big
sticks, create dens and enjoy cooking on the fire.
Alongside all these activities, the Pre-School
children enjoy exploring through playdough,
gym, dance time, story time, cookery, literacy
and mathematical sessions, swimming, French,
music sessions and gardening. They have also been
performing on the stage taking part in the Harvest,
Easter and Mothers Day services, the Nativity and
our end of year EYFS performance; they also met
Father Christmas! At such a young age they have
sung and performed in front of an audience and
have been fantastic! 06
