A Patriot’s view of the history and direction of our Country
Like our own dissolved Articles of Confederation replaced by our
Constitution, the United Nations successor to the League of Nations
attempted to address the weaknesses, while absorbing what was
salvageable of the League of Nations, and attempting to strengthen
its weaknesses and address the concerns of members. This was
particularly important to the United States in ratifying any
agreement to join the United Nations.
The United Nations was ratified in 1945 and comprised of fifty-
one members, with five being permanent members – United States,
United Kingdom, France, Union of Soviet Socialist Republics and the
People’s Republic of China. Members of the United Nations were
those that were allied against Germany and Japan in World War II.
The purpose of the United Nations was international peace and
security, like its League of Nations predecessor, and to also foster
international economic and social programs. The United Nations is
headquartered in New York City, on land internationally owned;
agencies of the United Nations are dispersed throughout the world.
One misconception is that United Nations diplomats have full
diplomatic immunity. In fact, they have limited immunity and most
laws of New York City, New York state and federal laws apply –
including the infamous unpaid parking tickets. So, to jump to one
conclusion – boot all the unpaying and law violating parasites out.
New York City puts up with the nonsense because the contributing
economic factor of the United Nations to these host cities cannot be
ignored. But, there is a solution.
The United Nations has expanded beyond the role of
peacekeeping – and unlike the League of Nations, has an official
