A Patriot’s view of the history and direction of our Country
to Bear Arms, no quartering of soldiers, no search or seizure without
a warrant, etc. A Continental Congress was formed, the first uniting
of the colonies under a representative government, to address the
growing conflict with England – and a desire to still remain subjects
of the crown, while seeking representation in parliament. It was
during the Second Continental Congress that independence from
England was unanimously declared. We have several original
newspapers from England, telling the story of the growing rebellion
of the colonists. It is interesting to read England’s ‘media’ version of
what was happening in the colonies. An open, but undeclared war
existed between England and the colonies, which escalated through
the balance of 1775 and into 1776. As well known in history,
independence by the colonies from England was declared in 1776,
but not until after continued clashes between armies.
