Stage 5: The Degeneration Phase
unhealthy until the plants begin to die
(Degeneration phase).
Similarly, if the “soil” which surrounds the cells
(the extracellular matrix) is polluted and changes
its composition, it will affect the cells. No longer
do the cells have a healthy environment around
them which allows them to prosper and grow. Now
they are surrounded by an environment which
keeps them from getting the nutrients they need and
inundates them with toxins and wastes. Just as
plants can not prosper or even survive in an
environment such as this, nor can your cells. This
environment will eventually lead to break down in
the cells' level of function and give rise to disease.
Signs and symptoms that demonstrate that you
are in the degeneration phase include any change to
cell or tissue function. As example, a high
hemoglobin A1C in diabetes, high liver enzymes in
liver disease, high BUN or creatinine in kidney
disease or memory loss or confusion in Alzheimer's
disease are signs of damaged function in the cells
of their respective organs. Persistent fatigue, loss of
