Stage 5: The Degeneration Phase
function and chronic pain are other symptoms seen
in this stage. Autoimmune diseases are also found
here. This is where quality of life begins to
decrease rapidly. This is also why certain people
age more rapidly and have more medical problems
than others.
At this stage, treatment becomes much more
difficult. Not only do you need to break down the
extracellular matrix, clear away the toxins and
rebuild it to a healthy state, now you must also treat
any damage done to the cells. This damage to the
cells can be minor or severe depending on what the
cells have been exposed to and for how long. How
well the cells are or are not being nourished will
also determine the rate of damage.
Effective treatment at this stage takes 3 months
to a year, sometimes longer. The level of damage
also determines how well function can be restored.
If the degeneration does not stop, you progress to
the Dedifferentiation Stage.
