in your back and/or legs gets worse,it is highly probable
that there is disc involvement. (Incidentally if you lean
backward and the pain in your back gets worse, this is a
problem with your facets which we will cover in the
next booklet.)
What happens if the discs are damaged?
If the discs are damaged, you will obviously feel
pain. The amount of pain you feel depends on the
extent of damage and what structures and tissues are
involved. If only the fibers of the disc are damaged and
to a moderate degree, your pain level may only be
moderate. If the fibers are damaged enough that the jelly
like center can leak out, you may irritate both the local
nerves and the sciatic nerve giving you extreme pain in
both the back and down the leg.
Correct medical treatment needs to be done in stages.
The initial treatment is simply to get you out of pain. If
the damage is mild or moderate, treatment may take a
few days to a few weeks with acupuncture and
frequency specific microcurrent. If the damage is more
extreme, it may take a good 4 weeks to effectively treat
the pain. In extreme cases where a large amount of
damage has been done to the discs, surgery may be
