Understanding the difference between lack of

symptoms and a high level of function.

This is where many patients choose to forego

any further treatment believing the problem is

resolved. Is the problem resolved? The answer is

no. The organ or tissue is still functioning at well

below healthy level of function but the level of

function is above that where symptoms show so the

patient believes there is no longer a problem.

When you have less than optimal function of an

organ or tissue, there is a problem that most people

do not recognize. Let’s use an analogy to explain.

Imagine you have a company of ten workers

who are very busy with the production of their

product. When all ten workers are working

efficiently, the company has no problem with

keeping up with the demands for their product.

Now imagine the company loses three of its

workers. The company may still manage to

produce its product at the rate needed but the

remaining seven workers will have to work harder

and possibly longer to keep up with demands.
