It is 8.30 Monday morning, and you have just arrived at your desk. Martine Andels, Director of
Finance, asks if she can have a word with you.
TRIGGER
“I have received an email this morning from Chet Nolan, CEO. Here is a copy for your information;
the contents are self-explanatory.
I would welcome some help from you in preparing for the next Board meeting, scheduled for
tomorrow. In particular, I’d like you to address two matters:
Firstly, could you please summarise the strategic benefits and risks of taking over a production
company such as Majik Media? I would also welcome a preliminary conclusion on whether such a
move should be pursued by Couchweb.
Secondly, if the Board were to decide to proceed, what would be the best way to structure our
enlarged business? We currently have a functional structure in place, which seems to work well;
would this need to change and, if so, how should it be changed? What practical advice can you
offer to maximise the chances of any new proposed structure being effective?
