               2.1 Introduction

               It is important to understand how people learn new things, as this will allow an
               organisation to create suitable training programmes for its employees.


               2.2  Kolb:  experiential learning cycle


               Kolb suggested four learning stages that must be addressed:

                                                     experience



                               Accommodative                            Divergent




                           Active                                                    Reflective
                     experimentation                                                observation





                               Convergent                               Assimilative



                                                      Abstract
                                                 conceptualisation
