Data warehousing
A data warehouse is a large relational database that collates a large
amount of data from a variety of sources and makes it available to end
users in an understandable fashion.
Data warehouses typically have four key components:
database
database extraction tool
decision support system
other analysis tools as needed.
Data warehouses are useful within the organisation for a number of reasons:
presenting standard reports and graphs
enabling of comparisons/trend analysis
allowing data mining.
