Human resource aspects of performance management
Introduction to human resource
management (HRM)
HRM includes:
the recruitment and selection of employees
the development of HR policies, e.g. reward schemes
the management of employees, e.g. through training and development and the
appraisal system.
Today, employees are seen less as an expensive necessity and more as a
strategic resource that may provide the organisation with competitive advantage.
Therefore, careful HRM is a necessity and should assist the organisation in the
achievement of its mission and objectives.
