                        THE JAZZ SIPPER

Uncle Frank just laughed and said retire me and give me a new Cadillac that
will do just fine, they both just laughed and shook hands.

Vance really felt the change inside of him he was working an honest job,
and even though his relationship with Regina had seemed to be stalling over,
he was not feeling bad about it at the moment. He had started messing around
with Cheryl, and he had made a commitment to go into the Navy after his
graduation from high school. Vance thought about his budding relationship
with Cheryl. How he had resisted the flirtations from Cheryl that night when
they left the train station after seeing Regina off. They all went into the French
Quarters to hang out and party. It had been about two months and he had
numerous failed opportunities of trying to get in touch with Regina. When he
and Cheryl agreed to consummate their relationship.

When Aunt Jessie met Cheryl, she realized that she had met her before
through Regina. Aunt Jessie told Vance that she did not care for her then and
she definitely did not care for her now. Also, she better not come up pregnant
Aunt Jessie said. Aunt Jessie got in a boxer stance and said in a low voice,
“you know I knocked your Uncle Frank out and I will knock you out too”. Vance
walked away laughing thinking how funny Aunt Jessie was at times, but he
also knew she meant what she said. Vance went into his room and turned on
his record player. He took out his Wes Montgomery album “Tequila”, and
listened to the cut Bumpin on Sunset. Vance felt at that moment his life was
the essence of cool, with all things being considered.
