A new club, LC Poinachi has been sponsored by LC KSGD Vidyanagar. A Home for Homeless and a Bus Waiting Shelter
were constructed by LC KSGD Vidyanagar.LC Palakunnu conducted cardiac awareness camp, free eye camp and
distributed tree saplings and vegetable seeds. Under the Legacy Project, the club provided train coach position board at
Kottikulam Railway Station. LC Kanhangad Town conducted Gynaec Awareness Camp and a mega medical camp and
constructed She toilets. Bekal Fort constructed 14 toilet blocks with modern amenities. LC Chullikara and LC Periya
conducted free eye camp. Kidney Care Camps has been organised by LC KSGD Vidyanagar ,LC Nileshwar Town and LC
Bekal Fort. LC Kundamkuzhi conducted Sight First camp. All clubs actively participated in District Sargasangamam.
Active participation was done by LC Nileshwar town, LC Bekal Fort and LC Vidyanagar in Inter Region Cricket
Tournament.
Some more worthwhile projects have been planned by the clubs in my Region.

Report of Lions Centennial Sargasangamam

Dear Lion Members,
I am thankful to our respected District Governor Lion CA Shivaprasad K MJF for designating me
as the District Chairperson - Sargasangamam for the Lionistic Year 2016-17.
Being Centennial year, as per the suggestion of our District Governor, the event was named
"Lions Centennial Sargasangamam " and it was my responsibility and duty to see that the event is
held in best possible manner fulfilling the high expectations of our District Governor and
members of our District.
The Sargasangamam was held on 27th November 2016, Sunday at Malabar Christian College , Calicut. The program was
inaugurated by our District Governor Lion CA K Shivaprasad MJF in the presence of 1st Vice District Governor Lion Adv
Dennis Thomas MJF, 2nd VDG Lion Ganeshan Kaniyarakkal MJF, PMCC Lion K T Ajith MJF, IPDG Lion K Sujith MJF ,
PDG Lion Ipe Thomas PMJF ,DCS Lion Mohan Nediya MJF, DCT Lion CA Varadarajan P.S.MJF and Lioness Board
President Lion Shiby Benny.
Nearly 54 Clubs participated in various items like Dance , Music, Fancy Dress, Quiz etc.The overall Championship was
won by LC Calicut East , the 1st Runner Up was LC Calicut Silverhills, and 2nd Runner up was LC Vatakara Midtown.
Trophies were awarded to winners by District Governor Lion CA K.Shivaprasad MJF, First Lady Lion Ganga Devi and
First VDG, Lion Adv. Dennis Thomas MJF.
I take this opportunity to thank all committee members for the support given to me for smooth conduct of Sargasangamam,

AN EXOTIC JOURNEY TO SRI LANKA - A REPORT

Sri Lanka, nestling at the foot of India in the blue green waters of Indian Ocean, is often known as
the Pearl of Indian Ocean. The reference of this country is made in the Hindu epic "Ramayana".
Sri Lanka was believed to be the kingdom of Ravana and was initially known as "Lanka". This
country is also known as "The Nation of Smiling People". Almost 70% of the people are
Buddhists. There are many beautiful stupas and temples adorning the country and the magnificient
beaches, jungle-set palaces and tea plantations attract many tourists to this small country.
A visitor would discover his or her little paradise in Sri Lanka .No wonder, Sri Lanka was identified as an appropriate place
for the 44th ISAAME FORUM by the Lions Clubs International. which was held in Colombo, Sri Lanka from 30th
November to 3rd December 2016. with the theme, "TOWARDS THE NEW CENTURY OF SERVICE " . All the
delegates from ISAAME countries including the Lions of District 318E enjoyed the serendipitous beauty of Sri Lanka,
accompanied by the warm hospitality of its people."AYUBOWAN" is the traditional greeting in Sinhalese meaning "MAY
YOU ENJOY LONG LIFE". It is an age old greeting of the people of Sri Lanka. Everybody who visits that country will be
greeted that way everywhere they travel.

Our group consisted of 72 members and there were 18
couples including our D G & First Lady and 1st VDG and
his spouse. We boarded the flight from Kochi on 1st
December at 9.30 A.M and reached Sri Lanka at around
11.40 A.M. After lunch on the way , we checked in at
Grand Oriental Hotel, Colombo and after taking rest in
the hotel for some time, all of us went for a visit to the
Temple Trees Banquet Hall for the ISAAME inaugural
ceremony in the evening at 4.00 P.M. We spent some time
at the venue.
