Report of Community Marriage
It is with great pleasure that I present to you a brief report of Samooha Vivaham. First of all, let me
thank our Dist Governor for making me the District Chairperson for one of the major programmes
of our District. In the initial stages, I was totally unaware of what to do while taking up such a
prestigeous project. But with the encouragement from the Lions fraternity and from the members
of our club, everything went on smoothly and I am really happy to note that this was a great
success.
The first wedding was conducted by our District Governor and the other weddings were conducted by Dignitaries namely
Calicut Corporation Mayor Sri. Thottathil Raveendran and Sri. K. Raghavan , MP and our Past District Governors. This
was a grand function and all this was possible because of the generous contribution we received from all the clubs in the
District. We were able to give gold worth 2 sovereigns as necklace, Thali chain and Thali. Wedding sari, Kasavumundu and
Shirts and also a suitcase containing house hold articles and clothes to all 7 couples. Also, a good and sumptuous Sadhya
with Payasam was served. There were about 500 to 600 persons for the wedding including the family members of the
couples, Lions and their family and VIP dignitaries
Let me take this opportunity to thank all the Core Cabinet members, Regional Chairpersons, Zone Chairpersons, District
Chairpersons & of course all the Lionesses and last but not the least my club members. This was a major project, no doubt
and all the credit goes to our District Governor for taking this as his Dream Project. The amount involved in this Project
was about `7 Lakhs and I am happy to note that all the clubs of the District participated in this Project. There were
individual Lions also who had sponsored for the wedding.
Let me conclude by once again thanking all my brothers and sisters in Lionism who were with me throughout all these
days.
Lion Valsala Gopinath
Dist. Chairperson - Dream Project.
REPORT ON LIONS CLUBS INTERNATIONAL EDITORS' CONFERENCE
It was a wonderful experience to participate in the grand event like "LIONS CLUBS INTERNATIONAL
EDITORS' CONFERENCE" in India at Hyderabad during 15th & 16th December 2016. Since it was a
rare opportunity, I am personally grateful to our DG in deputing me to represent our District 318E in that
event. This occasion was able to build new relationships and to interact with many other lion leaders
from all other districts and multiples of our country. Though the program was organized by the Lions
India Magazine Chairman Past International Director Jagadeesh Gulathi and Chief Editor (Lions India)
&PID Lion R Sunilkumar, the presence of International Magazine Editor-in-Chief Lion Sanjay Ahooja
was the star attraction of the event. He, being the key person involved in the transformation of Lions
Magazine from its conventional form to digital era, made this event quite interesting.
Celebrations have already been started to mark the centennial year. The future revolutions will embrace the dignity of our
organization. The most interesting element is that any common man can join our organization directly to International membership
without any invitation from a club member and can do his activities outside the ambit of Clubs and Districts. Even though the rules
and regulations are not fully defined, it may influence the structure of our organization a lot and may give opportunity to many other
NGO volunteers to associate with Lions Clubs International.
The decisions have already been taken to cut down the number of printed editions of our Magazine from 11 to 4 from next year and
giving more importance to the digital version. Apart from the PDF form of the printed version, we will get a more dynamic and
responsive version of the Magazine Portal with lot of features. Now it is ready with options to share relevant contents to others
through social media as well as other online communication platforms. A beta version is already launched during this event by
SanjayAhooja and any one can Google it in web to install on their smart phone. Another attraction of this product is its flexibility in
interaction with our District sites and My LCI. The mobile app which is expected to be launched next month will act like a social
media application and it will be capable enough to share activity details along with photos and videos. The automatic reporting
platform will enable any Lion member to upload relevant activities using this technology. This will resolve a major challenge in
reporting issues that prevented many District Governors from achieving deserved International recognitions. Since the development
team for both My LCI and Lions Magazine are same, they have offered tools to communicate with any external district reporting
system. In this way we can expect a huge revolution in this area.
In connection with to our Centennial Celebrations, Lions India Magazine will release a special edition. This will cover so much of
interesting information regarding clubs, members and districts along with our historical and proud past activities and achievements.
Due to the same reason, we need to distribute that edition among every important personalities other than Lions in our society. All
leaders and members are requested to report the address details of such people at the earliest to make sure the delivery intact.
Remember that this exercise may speak more to others about us and will give chances to climb new mountains for our organization
in membership growth.
Dear friends, our own leader Lion Naresh Agarwal has decided to keep Lions official slogan as his official slogan "WE SERVE"
during his tenure as International President in 2017-18 and he will announce Fight Against Diabetics as another Centennial
Challenge along with Fight against Child Cancer. Let us hope for a bright future for our organization with all these new strategies.
Lion M Vinodkumar PMJF
Additional District Cabinet Secretary.
