From Deen Celtic to Ormonde Villa and on to Evergreen,
Maguire learned his trade right here on pitches across the
county and beyond.
His rise to fame has already had a knock-on effect, not least
among young Callan United players who were there in the
Aviva to see him make his debut against Moldova (who’s to
say that Ireland’s next big star wasn’t on that bus coming home
from the game that night?)
And where can they get that foundation in football? Right here
at their local club.
That’s something that connects players of all ages and abilities
– the local side. It’s where you first learn about the basics of
the game, to be part of a team, to belong.
