    Pleasant View
Music Enrichment Series
Pleasant View Visual and Performing Arts Academy hosted the third installment of its music enrichment series on February 16. The performance, titled ‘I Dream a World,’ featured none other than Pleasant View’s very own music director – and soulful tenor - Lavonte Heard, along with special guest bass- baritone Darnell Ishmel. The evening was the pair’s tribute to composers of color, and explored works by Price, Bonds, Adams and more and a fitting event for Black History month.
There are two shows remaining in Pleasant View’s unprecedented music enrichment series. The Grammy Award nominated Central State University Chorus will be beginning their annual spring tour by performing at our very own Hill Center (March 15). Under the direction of Professor Jeremy Scott Winston, the chorus will put on a riveting program of classics, spirituals, jazz, and gospel music.
The March 7 show at Pleasant View,“Phases,” will feature George Edwards and Company from Alabama A&M University of Huntsville, AL. Edwards and Company will offer up a program of opera, Broadway, R&B, and a special tribute to Motown. Heard urges guests at this show to loosen their ties and reminds them that the dance floor will, indeed, be open!
