                OVERVIEW OF WINNING RACES
WHAT THE “EXPERTS” PREDICTED:
“In the House, Democrats are poised to expand their majority. With a projected gain of 14-20 House seats, Democrats are on track to repeat the 2006 and 2008 cycles, when the party built on significant midterm gains to seal the capture of two entire branches of government two years later.” – Nathan Gonzales, Inside Elections (10/28/2020)
WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED:
House Republicans won 28 out of the 29 most competitive races according to FiveThirtyEight.
Zero Republican incumbents lost reelection for the first time since 1994.
Republicans elected the most diverse class in party history.
Nearly every House Republican candidate who flipped a Democrat-held seat is a woman, a minority, and/or a veteran.
19 new Republican women joined the House Republican Conference – breaking the record of nine new women set in 2010.
Moreover, nine new minority candidates and 12 new veterans joined our House Republican Conference.
