Module 2: Getting Ready for Writing Teacher’s Guide.
   Objective: Exploring directionality
  Lesson Plan:
Using visual skills to discriminate and understand directionality from left to right and top to bottom.
Independent ‘have a go’ work:
1. Provide each child with a copy of page 65 and 66 from the Activities Manual or access the games on the Interactive Whiteboard Programme.
2. Ask the children to look very carefully at the image or picture in the box on the left side.
3. Using their fingers to move from one image to the next, ask the children to tell you which image is different to the one in the box.
4. Ask the children why the image is different.
 Things to Consider:
1. Movements such as beanbag drop and
tummy circles can reinforce spatial direction within the body, helping children to understand this abstract concept in a physical way first.
2. These pages can be cut up and laminated and cut up so the children can manipulate and play with the cards, exploring directionality and ordering.
Support:
To reduce the visual demand of the task, you can cover up or cut out and laminate the images. This allows you to present only two images at a time.
