Can you match the letters in the clouds?
Module 2: Getting Ready for Writing Teacher’s Guide.
                Lesson Plan:
Using visual discrimination to match two letters, encouraging visual focus, attention, figure ground and spatial orientation skills.
Independent ‘have a go’ work:
1. Provide each child with a copy of page 95 - 98 from the Activities Manual or print off page IWB251 from the IWB programme.
2. Point to the letter in the first box. Ask the children to search in the clouds to find the same letter.
3. If the children have learnt the phonetic sound of the letter, encourage them to link the image to the sound as they work.
Things to Consider:
Support:
1. Grade this activity to make it easier by
laminating the small letters and presenting one letter at a time for them to find in the clouds.
2. For the younger children only use the letter tiles. Don’t use the image with the clouds. This way they can learn to match letters whilst they are in the same spatial position.
