The Drop-Down Day activities helped the students not only enjoy them
but also learn a great deal from it. With the same perspective in view
grade 11- F students utilized the Drop Down Day to frame the
classroom’s theoretical discussions within real-world contexts to
develop relevant skills. The debate was on the topic-: Future Fuel-On
the road to a Hydrogen Economy’ based on the subtheme sustainability.
The students confidently presented themselves before the audience and
the teachers. Some participants argued for the motion and some against
the motion. The teams were well prepared, and they used various skills
like overstatement, definition, rhetoric, irony etc. to convince the
audience. The participants, armed with statistics and data validated
made their arguments more emphatic with right facial expressions, body
movements and gestures. The peculiarity of the day was that students
stepped into the class rooms with the ideas they explored, different
views on the selected topic whereby they bid good bye to the school
books for the day to take up the role of a teacher thereby sharing their
ideas to the class in common. Grade 12 F students chose a topic on the
sub theme Opportunity in the field of Biomedical Engineering and
Artificial Intelligence, The scope of Polarization in Biomedical
engineering and recent technologies developed by Artificial Intelligence.
A seminar, power point presentation and discussion were the activities
of the day. Students discussed on the scope of the same in the medical
field, and the recent technologies that used AI like SIRI to self-driving
cars etc. Finally the students gathered their thoughts and collectively
wrote down the ideas they acquired for the day to be displayed in their
class room.
