Bowline, Bowline with a Bight,
and the BHK
The BHK is an excellent way to combine the load-
bearing potential of trees and boulders. It is easy to tie,
and unlike any of the other knots one might tie with
a bight of rope, the BHK has material redundancy.
Anchor systems rely on a system of redundancy right
up to the master point, and the redundancy is just as
important in the knot that creates the master point as
it is in the rest of the system.
The combination of a bowline, a bowline with a bight,
and the BHK is one of the most versatile anchoring
techniques.
