Suspension/Expulsion
In the first instance of a major breach of the Code of Conduct, you will be asked to attend a
meeting with the Deputy Principal. If you wish, you may also bring a support person to the meeting
or request a Student Club Executive member accompany you.
If there are any subsequent breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Principal will initiate a formal
hearing. This hearing may involve representation from the Senior Common Room (typically with
a Tutor representative) and the Junior Common Room (typically with a representative from
the Student Club Executive). The student will have the opportunity to explain their actions and
hear from staff and peers. Outcomes and consequences will be considered by the Principal or, in
their absence, the Deputy Principal. These may include immediately suspending, removing
from residence and/or placing restrictions on any student or students, either
temporarily or permanently, where they feel that their actions are dangerous or detrimental to
the wellbeing of individuals or the College community, or otherwise place the College at risk.
This may include suspending or cancelling a student’s scholarship, and in some cases, the
student not being readmitted to the College in subsequent semesters.
If, in the opinion of the Principal, a student commits an offence of such gravity that they threaten
the fundamental wellbeing of the College, that student may be suspended or expelled from the
College immediately.
