Code of Conduct
As a residential university college founded in the feminist and Anglican tradition, Janet Clarke Hall
expects that all of its members display:
● Academic integrity including dedication to their degree studies and a willingness to
engage in rigorous and respectful enquiry and debate
● Respect and care for others within and beyond the College community
● Appreciation of the privilege of living and learning within a collegiate environment
and a commitment to looking after our heritage listed buildings and shared facilities
It is expected that all Janet Clarke Hall students will:
● Pursue their studies to the best of their ability
● Abide by the Terms and Conditions of residence outlined in the College handbook
● Take seriously their obligations under the Student Work Scheme program
● Respect staff including Resident and Non-Resident Tutors and obey their reasonable
requests
● Respect and support other members of the College and the wider community, in
return for their respect and support
● Respect all communal property and the property of others
● Contribute to a clean and healthy living environment by ensuring the return of all
crockery, cutlery and glassware to the Dining Hall
● Contribute, to the best of their ability, to the cultural and sporting life of the College
community whilst never neglecting their academic studies
● Conduct themselves in a responsible manner and refrain from all forms of criminal,
offensive, reckless and anti-social behaviour
● Take responsibility for their own conduct under all circumstances and accept that
they will be held accountable for any breaches of this Code of Conduct
Please note that the Principal is responsible to Council for the welfare and wellbeing of the
College and all its members. The Principal may immediately suspend, remove from residence
and/or place restrictions on any student or students, either temporarily or permanently, where
they feel that their actions are dangerous or detrimental to the wellbeing of individuals or the
College community, or otherwise place the College at risk. The College may require the student or
resident to vacate the premises (and remove their personal belongings) within a reasonable
timeframe.
You have chosen to become a member of the Janet Clarke Hall community and by accepting
your offer of residence you are signing up to this Code of Conduct and are therefore expected to
abide by the values of this College.
