and property damage. Please note that JCH does not allow drinking games of any nature, as they
can quickly lead to excessive and irresponsible consumption of alcohol and anti-social behaviour.

The use of illegal drugs such as marijuana, ecstasy or cocaine places College at serious legal, social,
and reputational risk, and places the drug taker at various levels of personal risk. There is a strict no-
        drug policy at JCH.

Finally, please note that Janet Clarke Hall is tobacco free. Smoking, including the use of vapes/e-
cigarettes, is not permitted anywhere within the College grounds or building.

        Consequences for unacceptable behaviour:
Sometimes issues arise because a member of the community has acted irresponsibly and infringed
the rights of others. Accordingly, we have procedures in place for responding to such situations. As
much as it is possible we endeavour to give all students the opportunity to feel heard and supported
throughout each stage of these procedures.

The procedures usually follow this sequence:

        a) Informal friendly advice

        b) A formal verbal warning, which will be noted on file
        c) A requirement to attend a meeting with the Deputy Principal, which will be noted on file

        d) After this meeting, some or all of the following consequences may be required:

                       ● a meeting with the affected person
                       ● an apology
                       ● cleaning, repairs, replacement or administrative fees
                       ● community service
                       ● ‘water wagon’ – in the case of excessive alcohol consumption
                       ● other appropriate restorative actions

        Further incidents may result in:

            ● a meeting with the Principal
            ● a behaviour contract
            ● probation
            ● removal of College Scholarship
            ● Suspension or expulsion from the College

When damage has occurred and no person can be identified as responsible for the damage, the
Student Club will be responsible for any financial remuneration.

        ‘Water Wagon’
In the case of excessive consumption of alcohol and/or disruptive behaviour, the Deputy Principal
or Principal have the right to place a student on the ‘water wagon.’ This precludes the consumption
of any alcohol on site for a prescribed period (which includes College functions), and precludes
the student from showing any sign or effect of the consumption of alcohol while on the College
        grounds.
