HQ 4TH INFANTRY BRIGADE AND NORTH EAST
Capt (MAA) S Prior RAPTC
The Headquarters of 4th Infantry Brigade and North East has had another productive year under the Command of Brigadier O C C Brown. In addition to the change in Command, a number of changes in Unit roles has occurred, it witnessed 4th Infantry Brigade lose 2 Lancs to the Specialised Infantry Brigade and receive 2 SCOTS and their Army Reserve unit 6 SCOTS.
The Commander’s intent for his Brigade SO3 PD was simple... Increase the participation in Sport. I began this vision with the L in our acronym LEADERS, ‘Lead by example’. 4X HQ entered a team into 90% of the UK North Sporting competitions receiving medals in Swimming, Cross Country and Rowing.
The start of 2020 was welcomed with the first ever Winter Festival of Sports which was a full day at ITC who hosted; Basketball, Mountain Biking, Wattbike and Rowing attracting almost 250 participants and. The Commander, dedicated as ever, attended the event in the morning taking part in the rowing and then returning to present the prizes at the end.
Although only around 30 participants were OPCOM, the ‘one Army concept’ must be echoed throughout the UK to capitalise on producing well organised competitions to enable all our Soldiers and Officers to participate. Which I am sure will happen once these uncertain times have passed.
Stay Safe, Strong and Positive.
HQ PD Staff enjoying their Sports
