The children ran upstairs to look out of a bedroom window to see what would happen to the animal. Lily became excited. 'Look, it's snowing. Hooray!'

When the door opened, the animals had scurried away with the cart and returned to the meadow. They had talked for a while before going back to their homes. The sadness they each felt was obvious. Edward and Tom accompanied the animals from Barns Wood as they walked home along the footpath.
