THE FLOOD
The day after they finished work on Badger's home, Paris Rabbit had a headache and a sore throat. Her mother, Lottie believed a day in bed might be good for her. With her other children at school, Lottie cleaned her house from top to bottom and felt pleased when she'd finished. The rooms looked clean and tidy.
She stood the brooms and wet mops outside the kitchen door and sat at the table to enjoy a cup of tea. Admiring her pretty kitchen and new cooker gave her a feeling of pride. Later, Lottie tiptoed down the main corridor with a basket of clean towels and thought she heard the sound of running water. She placed the towels in the bathroom cupboard and checked to see that the taps were turned off.
