              9.3. Modbus Registers
GuardII+ hosts Modbus data registers that can be used by external devices to access the
PD results of the most recent set of measurements directly from a plant control system on the
same network. There is a set of Modbus addresses used for general monitor status, but most
of the Modbus data is specific to a particular monitoring technology. This section describes
the general status data registers hosted by the monitor; refer to the specific monitoring
technology User Manuals for Modbus details of that technology.

                                     NOTE:
The GuardII+ Modbus register map is designed for compatibility with
                                     Modbus Application Protocol Specification v1.1b3.

              9.3.1. General Modbus Register Information
                        • Each register is an F03 Holding Register

                        • Unless otherwise noted, all data is expressed as 16-bit unsigned values
                        • For values that are expressed as float data type, they are encoded as CD AB (or word-
                            swapped) floats.
                        • To access the data registers, connect to the GuardII+’s Ethernet address and read the
desired register using the Modus over TCP/IP protocol

9.3.2. GuardII+ Overall Status Modbus Data
These Modbus addresses are common to all GuardII+ monitors regardless of the
monitoring technologies that are installed. This data is updated after every diagnostic cycle
and when the Alert state changes. For a monitoring technology that is not installed, the Alert
status of that technology will always be reported as ‘no Alert’.
