NEW YORK ATHLETIC CLUB Member Benefits
Facilities (continued from previous page)
Swimming
The saltwater pool overlooking the Long Island Sound is simply irresistible.
With an adjacent kiddie pool, even the youngest visitors have plenty to enjoy.
Members and their guests can also order a light snack from our poolside menu
or sign up for individual and group lessons with our experienced lifeguards.
Tennis
Travers Island offers one of the most extensive tennis facilities in the northeast.
Fifteen Har-Tru courts and three all-weather courts are available, some lit for
nighttime play. Members can schedule lessons with a teaching professional
throughout the summer. Classes, a Junior Academy, round robin tournaments
and social evenings are also organized and enthusiastically attended.
Training Facilities
Travers Island offers first-rate workout facilities, whether you’re an Olympic
champion or a recreational runner. The all-weather running track and athletic
field are familiar turf for the NYAC’s championship winning rugby, lacrosse and
soccer teams, while early risers can witness the workouts of our world-class
rowers as they hurtle through the waters on the Long Island Sound.
Wine Program
NYAC members can store their own selections of wine at the Club to enjoy
when having dinner or relaxing in the Cocktail Lounge. Members can store up to
four bottles of wine in temperature controlled, secured wine cabinets located in
Shore 31.
Yacht Club
The NYAC’s Yacht Club offers mooring facilities for boats of all sizes,
both powered and under sail. A full schedule of social and competitive
opportunities means that Yacht Club members are always busy, always on the
water and always eager to welcome new members. You don’t even need to be
a boat-owner to participate; social members are welcomed, too.
Additional Amenities
Travers Island offers bicycle rentals so that members and guests can enjoy the
extensive bike paths. Your children may also partake in one of the many junior
activities from Memorial Day - Labor Day inluding arts and crafts, tie-dye day,
board games and more.
