What is scuba diving? SCUBA refers to the equipment that divers must wear so that
they can stay underwater for long periods of time. When you scuba dive, you can explore
exotic places, take terrific pictures, and exercise your body and mind. It’s also a great way to
make friends because you have to dive with other people. In the past, divers could not stay
underwater very long. They often had to hold their breath.! Now, divers have air tanks that
give them fresh oxygen so they can stay down for a long time.
Here are answers to some common questions.
Q: Do I have to be a great athlete to scuba dive?
A: No, but you have to be healthy. Before taking a diving class, you must fill out a
medical questionnaire. You will have to take a water-skills assessment? test, too.
Q: Is scuba diving dangerous?
A: It can be. At the end of the dive, for example, you must not come to the surface too
quickly. If you do, you can get sick.
Q: Where is a good place to scuba dive? I’ve heard that Bali is supposed to be great. Is that
true?
A: Yes, Bali is a popular destination for diving. Go in June, and you won’t have to worry
about heavy rain at that time of year.
