                     Ben:  “Is  the  cake  going  to  be  ready?”   Ben  asked  if  the  cake  was  going  to  be  ready.
                     Olive:  “Did  the  café  open?”       Olive  wanted  to  know  whether  the  café  had  opened.
                     Celia:  “Who  has  been  taking  notes?”   Celia  wanted  to  know  who  had  been  taking  notes.


                       1.  Use  statement  word  order  when  reporting   Omar:  “How  long  has  she  been  talking?”
                         Yes/No  questions  and  wh-  questions.  Do  not   /  Omar  asked  how  long  she  had  been  talking.
                        use  question  word  order.                X  Omar  asked  how  long  had  she  been  talking.

                       2.  Use if  or  whether  to  report  Yes/No  questions.   Carol:  “Did  the  reporter  take  photos?”
                                                                   Carol  asked  if  the  reporter  had  taken  photos.
                                                                   Carol  asked  whether  the  reporter  had  taken
                                                                   photos.

                      3.If  the  reporting  verb  is  in  the  past  (asked,   Ed:  “Will  Libe  able  to  attend  the  concert?”
