Note: When used with a direct object, passare uses avere to form compound tenses (ho passato,
hai passato . . .) and it means “to spend (time)” or “to pass” (see the sixth and seventh examples
below). Passare requires the preposition a before an infinitive (see the fourth example below).

Passerò in banca prima di tornare a casa. I’ll stop by the bank before coming home.
