patronized by the kings during the
19th and 20th century The states
of Mysore and Travancore had the
best of artists and musicians
the time.
Carnatic music practiced today, traces its
roots to the Bharata’s Natya Shastra. The
great composer Sri Purandaradasar
(known as the father of Indian music), has
formulated the current structured system
‘Ganamrutha Bodhini’ for teaching Indian
carnatic music.
