Levels of Grace
For the Christian, the example of the Lord serves as
standard to follow and emulate. We are called to be like
Him, serve like Him, and give the glory to God like Jesus
did.
Higher Responsibility, Higher Grace
As we seek to serve and please God we should recognize
that there are different levels of grace needed to operate for
God’s glory on earth. As the phases and stages of our lives
change, especially towards greater responsibilities, so the
level of grace with which we operate needs to change
higher. It is similar in the natural where we move from
single life to married life, from junior staff to senior staff to
management, from member/workforce to pastoring a
church, from taking up single tasks to multitasking; for
each new and higher level of responsibility we need new or
additional levels of grace.
A lack of understanding of diverse levels of grace can cause
frustration in the life of a believer. Be aware that grace is
available on different levels. For example, in the natural,
different job descriptions require different qualifications
and skill levels. What a roadside mechanic will generally
offer you will be different from what a computer-aided
auto-mechanic will offer you. Though they may both be
naturally skilled, the price to acquire higher knowledge and
education will distinguish one from the other. It’s similar
with the things of the Spirit. Where greater price is paid in
