Levels of Grace
divine grace within us, while as the container, we appear
simple with humility. Paul avows in 2 Corinthians 4:5-7,
“For we do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus
the Lord, and ourselves your bond servants for
Jesus’ sake. For it is the God who commanded
light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in
our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the
glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. But we
have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the
excellence of the power may be of God and not of
us.”
Whatever the field of influence, skill, experience or
expertise there should be effort by the believer to attract
attention to Jesus alone, who is our content and source of
the grace and glory we manifest. We are called to bring
glory to the Lord, and not ourselves, who are containers of
His grace. The key to doing this is humility. When we do
great things for the Lord being clothed with humility, the
Lord is prompted to give us more grace. James, the Lord’s
brother and first bishop of the church in Jerusalem
addressed the importance of serving the Lord with
humility:
“But He gives more grace. Therefore He says:
“God resists the proud, But gives grace to
thehumble.” Therefore submit to God. Resist the
devil and he will flee from you... Humble
