GRACE, Exploring Its Riches
yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift
you up” (James 4:6-7, 10).
Peter agrees in his own epistle, as he encourages the
younger saints to submit to their elders, or leaders, and to
one another with humility.
“Likewise you younger people, submit yourselves
to your elders. Yes, all of you be submissive to one
another, and be clothed with humility, for “God
resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.”
Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty
hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time”
(I Peter 5:5-6).
Humility is becoming a rarity amongst the saints in our day.
We often tend towards the worldly path of displaying
ourselves, our resources and our achievements. The
problem is not the display actually. The problem is with the
one making the effort to display the acquisitions and
achievements. In the world, among the unsaved, the one
who achieves anything is expected to display his exploits
and tell everyone about it. In God’s Kingdom, however, we
allow our gifts, works or exploits to display or announce
themselves to God’s glory.
“A man’s gift makes room for him, And brings
him before great men” (Proverbs 18:16).
