“At the base of the trees I felt disturbed, damp, cold
and unsettled. Everything seemed unclear and
wrapped in gloomy shadows. My gift is light.”
“At the beginning I gifted a red heart. But it had too many memories - it was a present from
my Mum. I made a wicker heart and the cement heart took on the colours and textures of the tree.”
“The bird house was a gift from my late father many
years ago. It was in a dilapidated state but I have restored
it. It is only suitable for small birds which is deliberate
because some of the bigger birds can be very bossy.”
“The music I have created begins with more sombre
stretching to the roots and the knobbled knees then
gradually captures the fluttering above where fantails and
sparrow hover then down again to a different
tempo of emotions around how beautiful she is to me,”
Connections were made to the past engaging deep emotions. Some memories were difficult. Despite the
relatively short period of time we had physically spent together, a trustful, respectful, caring environment had
been created allowing such personal stories to be shared.
